Coronation Street Catch Up: the cancelled by Cropper edition

your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...

The headline?

Seb has died, succumbing to his head injuries. Nina is recovering. The police investigation has led to the arrest of Corey's thug buddies and Kelly is charged with the murder of Seb and the assault on Nina. Corey? Well, it seems like he is currently considered a "witness" and he has not been charged.

How did this happen?

Call it the "triumph of the toe rags". Corey's oily father (the apple doesn't slide far from the tree), slyly decides to get his yobbo son to take the initiative and voluntarily make a statement to police implicating Kelly as the prime villain. This is unfortunately supported by forensic evidence (Corey deviously got rid of his incriminating evidence and washed his trainers), as well as a voice message from Seb sent to Abi just before the attack in which Kelly's voice is heard.

The fallout from this vicious attack weighs heavily on many people. Abi is grief stricken, wants Corey arrested, and also blames Nina and her Goth identity for causing the death of her son.

Summer is distraught because she was joyriding with the gruesome gang before the assault. Asha is conflicted because she believes that Corey is innocent but refuses to lie for him by giving him a fake alibi. To add to the turbulent events, Kelly's no-good Mom shows up shouting the odds. Meanwhile, Kelly's arrest has shaken Imran and Toyah and Toyah is wavering in her support for Kelly.

Over at the caf, Roy tears a strip off Evelyn (yes, she's back) for her throwaway insults directed at Kirk

Edison Bailey welcomes Michael and Grace and baby Glory home but his enthusiastic efforts to help out are rejected by Michael, so Ed takes off to visit Aggie (kudos to Ed for fixing the bannister). Ronnie continues to try to patch things up after the paternity test episode - to no avail. Ed doesn't want to know.

Sam is looking for a tutor so he can pass the entrance exam to prestigious Oak Hill school (how on earth did Rosie Webster ever get in if there was a tough entrance exam?). Daniel is hired, but only after he passes a test administered by Sam.

And finally, Sharon continues to do her best impression of Wile E. Coyote as she tries to catch the elusive Road Runner (Leanne) but is foiled at every attempt. Meep meep.

And now a few lines from the sad week that was:

Amy to Asha:
"I always knew Corey was bad news"
(and this comes from the daughter of Tracy so he must be really bad news)

Corey to his Dad on what would happen if he's arrested:
"I won't be able to play footie"
(I'm sure the Premier League is devastated)

Todd tells Billy that his lectures are not helping Summer:
"So you can't speak in tongues but you can talk out of your backside"
(bum's the word)

Corey's Dad to Corey:
"I really thought you were smarter than this"
(Nope, he's not)

Evelyn is peeved at her ejection from the Caf because of her insults:
"Cancelled by Cropper"
(and you didn't even get your cream horn)

Edison extols the baby ointment he bought:
"This is the best bum cream there is"
(according to Bum Cream Monthly magazine)

Abi confronts Corey:
"You better start talking, you piece of scum"
(just call him 'scum', for short)

Evelyn quasi-apologizes to Roy:
"I have been known to be insensitive"
(and chickens have been known to lay eggs)

***
Well, Coronation compatriots, so ends another week. RIP Seb. A wonderful character with lots of potential and promise. I suppose we'll soldier on and hope that the guilty are brought to justice.
Thanks so much for spending your time here at the Hip. Have a great week!
