your one stop update on what happened last week on Canada's Coronation Street...
That 'Coffinette' (our nickname for Todd's Young Funeral Director of the Year Award) looks pretty special on Eileen's sideboard. It's a special honour. I hear people are dying to win one.
But, alas, all is not well in the undertaker universe. Todd discovers that George's arch rival, Rest Easy, wants him to come over to the dark side. Rest Easy boss, Troy, is offering more money and other perks for Todd on (Rest) Easy Street. George is not amused and considers Todd a traitor.
Will Todd Rest Easy or Shuttle(worth) back to George?
Things are getting complicated for Tyrone as he reunites with his long lost Mum, Cassie. Ty is angry with Evelyn for lying to him about the existence of his real Mum. But Ty is also concerned about Cassie since she is, after all, a recovering drug addict who made no real attempt to connect with her son until now. As if to prove the point, Cassie has a secret rendezvous with her dealer to whom she apparently owes money. A violent encounter ensues, interrupted by a well-meaning Michael who takes Cassie to the hospital after she is assaulted by the nasty dealer.
Then there's Ronnie, who is convinced by the morally-flexible Debbie, to do a little insider trading to capitalize on a possible big Newton and Ridley deal. Ed is dead set against the idea because of his past history of gambling which has left a traumatic (and financial) impact on the Bailey family. So Ronnie decides to do the deed without telling Ed. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Over at Carla and Peter's place, Ryan is getting worse. Not only has he been injecting himself with steroids but now he seems poised to display his.. um... "merits" on some sleazy website in order to attract viewers and make money. The fact that Daisy is moving into a flat with Daniel only makes Ryan more desperate.
Over at Rev. Billy's, Paul is chuffed to receive a ring from Billy, but Paul's physical decline continues much to the dismay of Billy and Summer. Paul's attempt to take one of Gemma's quads to the park ends badly when he takes a tumble. Fortunately, Peter comes to his rescue.
And now for a few lines from the week that was:
Debbie goads Ronnie into taking a chance:"Predictable isn't profitable"
"I want to rest in eternal peace with Ryan Gosling"
George is disgusted by Todd's lack of loyalty:
"You and Rest Easy are made for each other"
George re: Troy of Rest Easy:
"Sylvester Sneakly over there"
(isn't that a Disney character?)
Todd tells George that he's cheap:
"Tighter than a gnat's chuff "
