Chesney: Coronation Street Beefcake?

please note this post makes reference to the July 25 episode on CBC

What is it that makes Chesney Brown such a babe magnet? Does he have a hypnodisc? Is it the Drakkar Noir? His earthy, rough-hewn market sensuality? (get on with it - ed)

Consider the facts. The lovely Katy wants him. The lovely Sinead wants him. What's his secret? Sure, he's a nice lad with a good heart and a dubious career but let's face it, he's not exactly Daniel Craig. Not that he has to be a super hunk to be attractive and, yes, it's refreshing to see a male on the Street with some rare qualities like: honesty, integrity and kindness. But let's cut to the chase. Katy deserves another chance. Chesney should get off his high horse and give her another chance. Not because she's fit, but because she's a single mom trying to raise their child by herself - and she genuinely loves Ches.

You would think that Chesney might put aside his wounded pride, stop thinking about himself for a second and start thinking about Katy and his son. Maybe he will eventually see the light and get back together with Katy.  If he doesn't, I can think of four people who will suffer: Katy, Sinead, Joseph and Chesney.

  1. Oh how I disagree with this post! Chesney should definitely not get back with Katy, as she'll just be off again the next time a good looking lad gives her the eye, especially if he's got nicer, kinder qualities than Ryan had. I think Katy sees Chesney as a consolation prize: yeah, he's boring but at least he is willing to have Joseph in his life, which does make Katy's life easier as well. Katy found out that the grass wasn't greener on the other side, but I don't think she really believes she'll be content with Chesney, either.

  2. Thanks for the comment and for the perspective on Katy. I never looked at it that way but you could certainly be right. Maybe Chesney has more insight on this relationship than I first thought and maybe Katy is more opportunistic/restless than I thought. I guess we'll find out in due time...
