Coronation Street TGIF: the Sally Webster classy garden party edition

please note this post makes reference to the Sept 8 episode on CBC

Well, I'm back and I managed to catch the Sunday omnibus edition. Phew! Where to start? The Battle of the Barbecues? Tina's quest for stroppiness? Kylie's pregnancy problems? Eileen's inner sadness? Ches and Katy? How about a few of the memorable lines from the week that was in this edition of TGIF Coronation Street.

Sally is dismayed that Jenna would refuse an invitation to her garden party:
"But you're my daughter's lesbian lover"
(It even says so on her business card)

Leanne shares her traditional opinion about David to Tina:
"I always thought he was a sly little toe rag"
(well, you know what they say about first impressions)

Tina asks David a leading question:
"Did you try and kill your brother?"
(Is the Pope Catholic?)

Sally tells Steve what's she's planning to serve at her garden party:
"Something elegant and simple from Nigella"
(one of her books?)

Sally asks Jenna and Sophie about Tim:
"Do you think there's some sexual chemistry?"
(more like an inert gas)

Julie recommends a spa treatment to Eileen:
"Reiki is very good for depression"
(but more expensive than getting a skinful)

Mary shows solidarity with Norris who has not been invited to either barbecue:
"I shall be boycotting both barbies"
(let that be a lesson to us all)

Sally explains the secret of her spicy food to Rita:
"That's the cumin: I think that's how you pronounce it"
(actually in this case, it's probably pronounced 'inedible')

Steve offers helpful advice on Sally's food:
"I would avoid the prawn kebabs"
(Shrimp alert!)

***
Well, lovers of Corrie, so ends another week and we are left in suspense. What will happen to Kylie? David? Will Eileen regret losing the fireman of her dreams? Who really won the battle of the barbecues? Sally or Anna? And what exactly is Sylvia up to?  Will Weatherfield General Hospital be able to handle all the Coronation Street patients? Tune in next week to find out.  Thanks for stopping by and I'll meet you back here next week. Cheers!
