Coronation Street TGIF: the legover before wicket edition

please note this post makes reference to the Sept 18 episode on CBC

Steve and The Rovers are once again challenged to defend their sporting honour vs. The Flying Horse. Last time it was football (soccer). What is it this time? Dressage?  Luge?  Water Polo? No, apparently it's cricket where the objective is to confuse Canadians (after an 'over', do we get to go home? - ed).

Elsewhere, Tyrone has discovered the ugly truth behind Jason's reno. Michael's no longer wearing his leg jewelry. Max is taking medication for his ADHD.  Peter is getting better and Carla wants to pursue the novel idea that he's innocent. Rob, meanwhile, is a busy guy and getting the lead out. Literally. He's digging up evidence faster than Beth's racking up wedding day expenses.

Now, how about a few lines from the week that was:

Steff is taken in by Luke and Katy's lovey dovey routine:
"I don't know whether to throw up or curl up in a ball"
(Better do both)

Carla explains to Rob why she wants to see Peter on his death bed:
"I'm not doing it for him, I'm doing it for me"
(well, just as long as you're doing it for someone)

Carla visits Peter at the hospital:
"You're a pathetic fool, you know that?"
(Guilty)

Peter thinks Carla killed Tina but he's not telling:
"I'll take your secret to the grave"
(You mean the fact that she prefers Shiraz to Pinot?)

Carla tells a nurse what she thinks of Peter:
"If he was a dog, you'd put him down"
(If he was a dog, Eccles would be his sister)

Beth tells Michelle her plans for the wedding:
"I want every guest to have a framed picture of me and Kirkie engraved"
(Make sure you include some anti-nausea pills too)

Jason tells Eva he feels awful about the Tyrone situation:
"I lied to me mate"
(don't worry, he's suing you)

Jason tells Tony that his friendship with Ty is worth a lot:
"Some things are more important than money"
(bitcoins?)

Well, fellow Corriephiles, so ends another week on the Street. We don't yet know how the cricket match will end but, um, don't expect to be bowled over (that's enough - ed). Rob seems to be sweating - and I don't think it's because he suddenly realized he's marrying Tracy. Could be that the truth is catching up with him. I guess we'll find out. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week. Cheers!
