Coronation Street Catch-Up: the mud huts and biodegradable toilets edition

a look back at last week on Canada's Coronation Street

The post-Christmas mood on the Street is somewhat sombre. Emily is off to Peru to visit her nephew and Norris is Mucho Peeve-o. Tyrone is in debt up to his ears.

Roy finds a letter which reveals that Cathy's late husband was having an affair with Nessa. Apparently there are more letters and Cathy finds them. Kevin continues to date Joanne while Anna looks on.

Tracy continues to transform the tat shop into a flower shop with Todd as salesperson. Liz counsels Johnny and learns that Johnny and Aidan and Kate's Mom had an argument after which she ran out of the house and was killed by a drunk driver.

Carla goes off to seek spiritual guidance from that holiest of shrines: the local casino, where she runs into Robert. They get drunk and go upstairs to get it on and have it off (ancient casino tradition). To make matters worse, Carla visits Rob in jail and tries to find out why he's being so evil (he's bored). Now she must decide whether to tell Aidan and Kate the truth about Johnny.

On the lighter side, Nessa convinces Ken to have a Hawaiian theme party. Eva pours two pints on Aidan's head (but he only asked for one - ed) due to his bet with his sister about whether he would cop off or not.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Nessa cuts the hair of a male customer at Audrey's:
"I love some length on a man"
(we're still talking about hair, right?)

Nessa again:
"Me and Ken are having a Hawaiian theme party"
(Good idea, Ken loves a good lei)

Norris' description of Peru:
"all mud huts and biodegradable toilets"
(check his full review on Trip Advisor)

Norris describes Emily in Peru:
"...silver topped Che Guevara in wide fitting shoes"
(Viva Zapato!)

Carla tells Nick to back off:
"Nick, don't try to handle me"
(she'll get Robert to do that later)

Tracy is annoyed by Nessa and Liz at the house:
"It's like an episode of Golden Girls in here"
(Thank you for being a fiend, Tracy)

Tracy offers Amy an alternative to a meal with Ken, Nessa and company:
"Pizza with me or dinner with the cast of Cocoon"
(tough choice)

Robert to Carla at the casino:
"Do you want to take this upstairs?"
(the champagne or the sex?)

Carla confesses to Michelle:
"I've just slept with Robert"
(could have been worse, it could have been Rob)

Michelle to Carla:
"Could'nt you have felt up the nearest croupier?"
(Place your bets.. and hands)

Emily to Rita about why she's going to Peru:
"It's time to get out of my comfort zone"
(Life with Norris is more like a discomfort zone)

***

Well, Punter pals, so ends another week. Will Carla spill the beans? Will Cathy and Nessa go their separate ways? Will Todd learn the Latin name for daffodils?  I'm sure all will be revealed in due course. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week. Cheers!

  1. A correction. It was Aidan and Kate's mother who was killed by the drunk driver, not Carla's mother.

  2. Thanks for the comment and the correction (I corrected the blog). I confess I sometimes find it difficult to keep track of the whole Connor backstory. All the best.

  3. I find it difficult to care! When they keep introducing new characters, only to give them ridiculous storylines, it tends to make us indifferent, at best, and disgusted at worst.
