Coronation Street Catch Up: the six foot kebab edition

a look back at last week on Canada's Coronation Street.

Suffice to say it was a sad week on the Street as Michelle and Steve said goodbye to their stillborn baby, Ruairi. Now it looks like the loss of their infant may become a wedge in their fragile relationship. Not only that, but Leanne is racked with a mix of guilt and sorrow.

Elsewhere on the Street, problems prevail. Eva and Toyah are at each others throats while working on the double-barreled baby shower for Michelle and Leanne (and, yes, it did include a male stripper). Eva is wise to Peter's affair with Toyah and agrees to keep it quiet IF Peter will withdraw his claim to a share of Underworld. Peter agrees. Adam is not impressed by Peter's decision.

Jenny says "yes" to Johnny's marriage proposal much to the chagrin of Eva but Aidan has a plan (let's hope this one doesn't involve fisticuffs).  Audrey and Gail are back from vacation. Robert declares his love for Michelle and Gemma declares that she once did it on the roof of a bus shelter (I guess she got off at the right stop).

The bailiffs seize the elliptical machines (only used once) as Dev's gym succumbs to mounting debt (thanks Sharif!) and the Kebab shop is under pressure to boost profits (charge extra for hot sauce?) Billy gets his parish back and gets the shifty Shona a job at Roy's caf.  Sinead and Chesney are drifting apart while Daniel is an interested bystander.

Kev and Ty had a brief falling out over the garage's failing finances now that Kev's got a big bill for Sophie's medical expenses. Things will only get worse since the Felonius Lunk (Phelan) got spineless Andy to steal Kev's new tow truck. Poor Bethany seems to be falling under the spell of an oily suntan salon mogul.

And now for a few lines from the week that was:

Gemma describes her role in reuniting lovers Johnny and Jenny:
"I was playing Putrid"
(That's when Cupid doesn't have time for a shower)

Aidan's strategy in being nice to Jenny:
"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer"
(he's going to need a bigger apartment)

Audrey says her absence is more noticeable than Gail's:
"I don't think it matters who cleans the urinals in the bistro"
(maybe it matters to the urinals)

Robert declares his love to Michelle:
"You can't choose who you fall in love with"
(Exhibit A: Tracy)

Eva complains when she loses the baby bottle drinking contest:
"My nipple's not on straight"
(Toyah's tit for tat reprisal no doubt)

Gemma questions Dev's idea for a mega-sized photo to promote the business
"A six foot kebab?"
(who says size doesn't matter?)

***

Well, dear denizens of Corrie, so ends a sad week on the Street. Let's hope things get better next week. All the best and thanks so much for stopping by. Cheers.
